Andrew Rainsford will preach on 25th September

Andrew Rainsford, the Diocesan Stewardship Advisor, is coming to preach on
25th September. He has sent us some thoughts for the weeks before his visit.

Please make every effort to attend.

“Schools went back last Monday and a new academic year has begun with the first week completed. There is much emphasis on teaching basics – what many of us know as the “three Rs”. In two weeks time, we commence a giving review in both of our churches. All those who claim membership/connection will be asked to review their giving. We can use the “three R” template.

Is our giving REALISTIC in both giving of what we have and giving towards what is needed?

Is our giving REGULAR? It is far easier to give by bank standing order and put God first in our budget. We can then concentrate on the wider meaning of the offertory, which is somewhat different than a collection, as we ponder the elements which create the sacrament.

Is our giving RESPONSIVE? Immediately after the offertory we pray the Eucharistic Prayer (Prayer of Consecration) where we recall, acknowledge and give thanks for the sacrifice of Our Lord. Does our giving begin to respond to that sacrifice?”
