The Goa Anglican Centre in 2017-8
The Goa Anglican Centre recruits and supports volunteers working with those most in need in locally run charities in Goa, India. This year, thanks to generous donations from St John’s church and our individual donors, we were able to provide a bursary that enabled Barry to spend four months sharing his talents as a football coach in Goa. Barry lived in a children’s home and taught there as well as commuting to two local open schools for children with disadvantaged backgrounds and behaviour problems. During his stay, Barry skilfully helped these children to rekindle their enthusiasm for life and belief in their own ability and worth. So many young people have a future again! Barry is joining us again this winter to continue his great work. Thank you St John’s from the Goa Anglican Centre, Barry and over 150 children who have experienced love, kindness and new hope.
