St Mary’s has a link with the parish of St James in Buchi which is in Kitwe in the Northern Diocese of Zambia. Recently we sent money for the purchase of hand sewing machines to enable the Mothers’ Union to develop sewing skills and earn some money.

From the latest newsletter from the Northern Diocese:

33. Fr Dismas Chanda wrote from St James, Buchi in June to say that a donation from their link parish of St Mary’s in Bathwick would be used towards the construction of a new ablution block. This followed discussions by their Church Council with Archbishop Albert Chama. They hoped to fund raise in order to complete the task by December. A donation from St John’s Bathwick will be used towards putting up ceiling boards at St Mary the Virgin Church in Mindolo. Fr Chanda said that he hoped that the congregations will be able to share much about Christian life in their different places.
